History is filled with records of such occasions where huge leaps of human innovations were an outcome of one pure curiosity. Be it domestication of fire or exploring space, a mind not asking these question will never look for the answers. It was the search of these answers, that has given this world things we use and makes our life easy, comfortable and even luxurious. People who dared to ask questions like What? Why? How? Honestly, they changed the face of this world and in coming future people who dare to ask these questions, will change it. At any point of time we all are asking a question. All of us. So why it is that, only few people are discovering and not all.

Asking questions and curiosity are two different things. We ask a question and then tend to forget it. If the question doesn’t invokes a drive to know the answer, it just comes and goes like a tangent, it has not achieved the state of becoming a Curiosity. Curiosity-drive theory still differs whether curiosity is a primary or secondary drive, as, You cannot be curious if you don’t ask a question on the other hand you wont ask a question if you are not curious.
What this curiosity is? Why we ask questions? Why it becomes so important to know something? Sometimes knowing it will not change our life it will just be a piece of information and nothing else still we go for it. On the other hand, knowing it might become a milestone in the history of mankind. What pushes us to that limit and beyond, where we encounter words like discovery, invention hypothesis, theory and so on.
Defining Curiosity will be easy. It is a quality related to inquisitive thinking such as exploration, investigation, and learning, evident by observation in human and other animals. It can be defined as an urge we feel to know more about something or it can be defined as a strong desire to know something. How something defined so easily in one sentence changed our planet. It fought a battle to survive over centuries as Religion, Philosophy and even Science stigmatized Curiosity. It was considered evil, destructive, there were punishments for people with curiosity.
In subsequent blogs, we will try to understand what is curiosity where we will try to understand psychology and mediators that motivates us to be curious. How history treated curiosity before accepting it. Once discussed we will move to the answers of all the great curiosities that has changed the face of earth. How, Why and What of those discoveries. But first Let’s be curious about curiosity!
